MISSION
Background
For over a 2 years, a working group of residents, employees, community organizations, businesses, and property owners in the Cascade/South Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle have been meeting at the Cascade People’s Center, cafes and parks to discuss their vision of a Farmer’s Market. After additional encouragement from the LEED-ND Committee, led by the City of Seattle, this working group began to formalize their process in making this vision a reality.
Vision
Create a Farmer’s Market that provides a waste-free, diverse and inclusive gathering place that:
Provides healthy, fresh food to the South Lake Union community
Provides direct economic linkages between local farmers and the community
Facilitates social connections and relationships in all sectors of the community
