Background

For over a year a working group of residents, employees, community organizations,

businesses, and property owners in the Cascade / South Lake Union neighborhood of

Seattle have been meeting informally in cafes and parks to discuss their vision of a

Farmer's Market. After additional encouragement from the LEED-ND Committee, led

by the City of Seattle, this working group began to formalize their process in making

this vision a reality.

 

Vision

Create a Farmer's Market that provides a waste-free, diverse and inclusive gathering

place that:

• Provides healthy, fresh food to the South Lake Union community
• Provides direct economic linkages between local farmers and the community.
• Facilitates social connections and relationships in all sectors of the community.
